The Pagano family
The recent history of the Pagano family has its roots in the 19th century in Boscoreale, a town not far from Pompeii. The Paganos are dedicated to the production of wine through the family business which, from generation to generation, finally comes into the hands of Salvatore Pagano. Helping Salvatore is the young Giuseppe, known to all as Peppino: the son who every day before going to school goes to the cellar to turn the must in the large vats. When his father's company closes, Peppino puts aside his work in the cellar but not his passion for wine production. However, he decides to move to Paestum and dedicate himself to tourism, a rapidly growing sector in those years in the city of temples. So he opened, in partnership with his brother, a small hotel overlooking the sea, which over the years became very successful.
Il Boutique Hotel Esplanade
After ten years the need to start his own business took over, and so Giuseppe left the small hotel he had opened to dedicate himself to the restoration of the Boutique Hotel Esplanade, the structure he had acquired in the meantime with his wife Giusy. Thus, thanks to the garden with a thousand shades, the rooms overlooking the swimming pool, the Vietri ceramic decorations and the quality of the service, this boutique hotel becomes a point of reference for those looking for the warmth and welcome of a private villa, without giving up the services of an excellent hotel.
Nascita del Savoy Hotel & Spa
Strengthened by the success achieved, Giuseppe and Giusy years later decided to open a new structure, designed to follow a dream: to make Paestum a destination for large events, weddings in particular, those which in past centuries were so well protected by the goddess Hera.
Paestum, in fact, has always been a happy place for young couples about to get married. Here, since the times of the ancient Greeks, the betrothed went to the temple of Hera, which can still be visited today, to ask for protection from the deity, protector of marriages.
Thus, Giuseppe had the idea of creating an ideal connection between past and future and developed a hotel with sophisticated shapes and timeless charm. Thus the Savoy Beach Hotel was born.
Over the years, the Savoy Beach Hotel became a point of reference for major events and became a destination for artists and personalities, including Gillo Dorfles, who created a series of ad hoc works for the Pagano family.
San Salvatore 1988
In 2003, during a business trip to Tuscany, Giuseppe visits an estate and, among the breathtaking landscapes of Chianti, something happens. A faintness, and the awareness of the desire to return to being a child among the barrels, to produce wine like his father or, who knows, even better. Upon returning to Paestum, the dizziness had already turned into a project: thus San Salvatore 1988 was born, the organic farm specializing in wines and designed as a tribute to the wonderful Cilento.
In 2011 the first harvest and bottling took place, from then on it was a succession of successes, prizes and recognitions. Many small differences have marked the difference, so much so that they led the company to expand the production range and create La Dispensa San Salvatore, the restaurant - point of sale of all the most iconic products of Cilento, where the chefs are Cilento housewives.
A history of such great successes has required the help of the new generations: Salvatore and Andrea, Giuseppe's sons who today are respectively head of the hotel business and the other of the agricultural company and the Dispensa.
Beach Club 93
Salvatore was responsible for the intuition of creating Beach Club 93, a refined coastal oasis reserved mainly - but not only - for guests of the Savoy. This exclusive club, with a panoramic swimming pool and luxurious suites, enchants guests looking for an unparalleled seaside experience.
Tre Olivi Restaurant
The repositioning of the Savoy restaurant is also the result of Salvatore Pagano's intuition. In fact, Salvatore deserves the credit for wanting to raise the hotel's historic restaurant, the Tre Olivi Restaurant, to the rank of Michelin stars. To do this, Salvatore called chefs Giovanni Solofra and Roberta Merolli to head the restaurant, who in just nine months of activity managed to take the restaurant from zero to two Michelin stars.
Holos Spa
Finally, Salvatore has the intuition to build an important spa in the Savoy: Holos.
It is an ambitious project, spread over 700 square meters which include three swimming pools, the salt cave, the ice room, the Hammam, the sauna and a beach area dedicated to yoga sessions. Added to these spaces of great personality is a Private Spa: a spa within a spa designed for two people which guarantees maximum comfort and privacy.
The entire experience is designed to work on the absolute well-being of body and mind, drawing on the age-old knowledge related to well-being that has always been handed down here in Cilento.
